Field Monitor (in camp)

Assignment The Field Monitor will monitor regular maintenance works in the camp, make sure there are adequate standards of living conditions in camps, serve as focal points for fire safety and support activities related to camp management, distribution and coordination of activities.

 

Functions

Inform and monitor regular and adequate maintenance of camp communal infrastructures and facilities through managing casual labourers.

Coordinating with other agencies and involving camp communities to promote and implement routine site maintenance and general clean-up campaigns including lighting, roads, drainage and solid waste reduction.

Ensuring international standards (Sphere Standards) on Care and Maintenance activities in camps (these standards will be communicated by UNHCR).

Identifying the activities that are part of the care and maintenance phase of the camp life cycle through monitoring the safety regular risk and safety assessments.

Undertake site risk reduction and maintenance to maximise the health and safety of camp residents.  In particular serving as the fire safety focal point to check expiry of fire extinguishers, support prevention efforts and ensure materials for fire safety are maintained and accessible.

Updating on a monthly basis the number of empty plots/shelters and needed repairs.

Support camp residents to maintain, repair, modify and improve their shelters, through materials, construction teams, trainings and monitoring.

Closely monitor construction activities carried out by refugees/IDPs to ensure compliance with technical specifications for construction standards in the camp.

Support activities related to camp management, distributions and coordination with other actors.  This may include providing additional support during distributions, providing feedback to NFI teams/UNHCR and working with partners to help promote activities contributing to self-sufficiency of PoC and the camps.

Write immediately incident report if happen, estimate what losses and cause of the incident and sent it to relevant players.

Prepare & compile all activities related to her/his sector as conducted every month through monthly report.

Disseminate information among the camps residence about day and time of distribution items.

Other tasks delegated to her/him by Camp Manager or Deputy CM. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements

•           At least 2 years’ experience in Logistics, Engineering or Field Support

•           At least 1 year’s relevant experience in NGO and/or civil service sector.

•           Experience working with refugees/IDPs.

•           Coordination and information management skills.

•           Familiarity with humanitarian issues and standards.

•           Ability to work well with the new communities and local authorities.

•           Good knowledge of English, Excellent Arabic is desired.

•           Good computer skills (word, excel, outlook, email).
