GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

 

Hygiene Promotion Team Leader will lead the implementation of community mobilization interventions to mobilize and empower program target communities to ensure acceptance and proper use of WASH facilities as well as their effective engagement with planned activities. S/he is also responsible to provide lead to the design and implementation of door to door mobilization activities, community awareness sessions and coordination with representatives of target communities. The position involves training/capacity building coordination and monitoring of community mobilization and hygiene promotion activities management. Additionally, the post holder is responsible to provide supportive supervision of hygiene promoters and coordination with project engineering staff as well as the relevant staff of associate agencies and.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Working with Project Manager and Engineers to develop and implement strategies that allow optimal community involvement in their respective activities to maintain a focus on the longer-term sustainability. Participate in the recruitment of hygiene promotion staff, identify their training needs and provide necessary support to build their capacity. Supervise conduction of pre and post surveys to assess hygienic behaviors of target community with focus on water-related diseases and water conservation. Assist Project Manager to develop and maintain close working relationships with local authorities specifically local government and municipalities and other local and international NGOs active in the project areas. Provide formal and informal reports on program activities in a timely and efficient manner to the Project Manager. Establish communication and coordination with schools, health facilities and community leader to increase effectiveness of the messaging and mobilization. Develop and supervise daily and weekly plans for hygiene promoters to conduct door-to-door mobilization activities as well as community awareness sessions. Coordinate/supervise water testing activities at household and community level (?) Participate in camps level coordination meeting. Any other relevant tasks assigned.
 

Requirements

University (first) degree in public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or other specialist field related to WASH is require. Previous experience in Hygiene/Health Promotion with NGO’s may substitute the academic qualification. 2 years of relevant and comprehensive experience in the field of WASH, especially in emergency settings. Proven experience of mentoring and capacity building of team / partners including training facilitation skills. Fluent in English (written and spoken), Kurdish and/or Arabic. Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines in changing situations.
